This study is focused on the influence of hydro-erosive grinding factor on nozzle internal structure characteristics. Employing the method of X-ray CT scan in Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF), the threedimensional digital model of nozzle is acquired, by which the nozzle dimensions are measured and analyzed. 5 single-hole diesel nozzles with different hydro-erosive grinding time were scanned. By using MATLAB to code the image-processing program, the automatic measurement of the characteristic parameters of each nozzles internal structure is realized. The measuring results show that, hydro-erosive grinding has a greater effect on the orifice inlet than on the orifice outlet. It enlarges the orifice inlet diameter and thus, enlarges the orifice conicity. Hydro-erosive grinding also improves the orifice surface roughness and slightly influence on the orifice length. Conspicuous effects are found on the orifice rounding radius. Hydro-erosive grinding, on one hand, enlarges the inlet rounding radius value, and on the other hand, improves the uniformity of the rounding radius along azimuthal direction.
