Woody metallophytes as specialised flora found on spoil heaps of mines, have potential use for phytoremediation of contaminated ground. In the ancient lead-zinc spoil heap of Munai,Yunnan, southwest China,Alnus nepalensis as a metallophyte naturally grow in spoil soil enriched with Zn,Cd and Pb.In the current study, heavy metal accumulation and tolerance in Alnus nepalensis populations were evaluated along a metal gradient on Munai lead-zinc spoil heap.
