  Background: Finnish Association for Mental Health arranges courses and groups for bereaved by suicide or other kind of traumatic event.Association ordered an evaluation research from Innokuntoutus in Rehabilitation foundation.Methods: Interview surveys, before and after questionnaires for participants of 10 groups/courses and professionals in charge of those groups Results: Participation had no remarkable effects on physical health.Participation had positive effects on participants mental health and wellbeing.Experienced effects were more positive than expected.Participation had positive effects on participants social abilities, and over all alertness.Benefits of participation proved to be remarkable it had increased participants quality of life.Conclusion: Courses and groups are a good way of early secondary prevention.Rehabilitation occurs with the help of professionals and with the help of the peer group and the peer support.For those bereaved by suicide the course increased hope and trust in that the widow with children will survive as a family.
