Use of the Internet (as well as mobile phones and email) is popular among young people, and is becoming an increasingly common means of delivering psychological therapy, possibly because it has the potential to be less stigmatising, anonymous and readily accessible. However the question remains as to their effectiveness.Whilst evidence exists to suggest that Internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy can be an effective and cost effective form of treatment for adults with both depression and anxiety, less work has been conducted specifically with young people, despite the fact that adolescents are probably more likely to use the Internet than adults.
