With the raise of awareness of public health,more people have chosen walking as their daily fitness and leisure activities.In this study,21 neighborhoods in central urban area of Shanghai were taken as cases.2863 questionnaires were collected from local residents.Observation on site and analyses of linear regression models was also made to find out the key factors which neighborhood environments influence residentsdaily leisure walking behaviors most.It was found that objective built environments in neighborhood affect the frequency of leisure walking more than residentssubjective perceptions of environments do,while the subjective perceptions of environments affect the duration of leisure walking more than objective built environments do.The key variables of neighborhood environments which have critical influence on the frequency of residentsleisure walking were: penetrability of sidewalk network,mixed land use,proportion of commercial interface in the street,density of the storefronts in commercial interface,wide space with hard pavements,safe and neat community environment.Meanwhile,it was also found that residentspersonal attributes and subjective demands would have intrinsic influence on choices of leisure walking behaviors.
