The adsorption of Cu(Ⅱ)by three kinds of multi-walled carbon nanotubes(CNTs-1,CNTs-2,CNTs-3)was investigated under environmentally relevant conditions.Six different surface water samples were collected from different rivers of China. The effect of aquatic colloids on Cu(Ⅱ)adsorption by three kinds of CNTs was estimated by separating the colloids using cross-flow filtration. The results show that the Cu(Ⅱ)maximum sorption capacity of three kinds of CNTs shows strong negative correlation with the zeta potentials of CNTs(p < 0.01).In the absence of aquatic colloids, the Cu(Ⅱ)maximum sorption capacities of the three CNTs of the six rivers follow the order of CNTs-1
