前卫男篮的前身——公安部直属队,成立于1956年,当时还有一支公安军男篮为全国亚军(1957年公安军解散,部分队员并到“八一”队)。而全国公安男篮一年后就获乙级队亚军,升入甲级队,1958年为全国第九名。1959年前卫体协成立,男篮开始称前卫队。1960年升至甲级殿军,1962年夺全国第三名,至1964年连续五年保持在前五名之中。前卫队于1960、1965和1966年获社会主义公安体育组织比赛冠军。
Avant-garde men’s basketball predecessor - the Ministry of Public Security directly under the team, was established in 1956, there was a public security men’s basketball as the national runner-up (1957, the dissolution of the PA, some players and to the “Bayi” team). A year after the national public security men’s basketball team won the second-place team B, promoted to first-class team, 1958 for the ninth. Avant-Garde Association was established in 1959, men’s basketball team began to be called the Avant-Garde. Rose to Class A in 1960, took the third place in 1962 and remained in the top five places for five consecutive years in 1964. Former guard in 1960, 1965 and 1966 by the Socialist Public Security Sports Organization champion.
