In order to stabilize the general education teacher team and enhance the cohesion of various schools at all levels, the Hong Kong District Government has allocated 875.44 million yuan in educational expenses this year, an increase of 9.48% over the previous year. A special fund of 1 million yuan was earmarked for the construction of a staff housing for teachers; 1.05 million yuan was allocated as a bonus for teachers; and 1 million yuan was allocated for the expansion of school buildings in order to improve school conditions. It is understood that in the past three years, the government of Hongkou District has allocated a total of 3 million yuan for the construction of staff housing for teachers. The area of residential buildings for the staff that have been built or under construction has reached 34,000 square meters, and more than 400 families have been resolved to solve the problem. By the end of 1992, the total area of teaching staff in the district was 6.2 square meters. this
