Earlier studies have demonstrated that normal neuroendocrine control of the woman’s reproductive cycle depends on the secretion of hypothalamic gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and the release of gonadotropins (luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone FSH) in the anterior pituitary. Modern emphasis on the causes of disruption of the reproductive cycle is often associated with disease status. Diabetes is a disorder of the common reproductive cycle. This article looked at the effect of a sudden increase in blood glucose on the release of gonadotropins (LH and FSH) from the pituitary gland.
