This article describes a new class of infrared detectors and presents experimental data for the samples. The material used, LaF_3, is an ionic conductor whose capacitance varies exponentially with temperature. Detector probe detection is based on measured signal voltage and incident power calculation, and thermal noise voltage is calculated based on the measured resistance. The detection rate calculated at 20 Hz modulation frequency is ~ 2 × 10 ~ 6 cm ~ (1/2) W -1. In some parameters representing this device, the estimated probabilities are consistent with the theoretical predictions. The theory further predicts that the best detection of a device much thinner than a sample is ~ 10 ~ 9 cm ~ (1/2) W ~ (-1).
