给书作注,按传统思维定势,就是“只有书对书,有所本,才是可靠的、正确的”.而给明代末年用山东方言口语写成的《金瓶梅》作注则比较困难.那么,我们只好以时代相近的用山东方言口语写成的其它作品——如《醒世姻缘传》等为参照系.但是,给《醒》等作品作注的先生也会遇到同样的问题.不过我们还知道,语言因素中有许多超时空成分,有些方言土语虽时隔几百年,却依然活在群众口头上,有的则可以从山东各县方言志里、从《山东方言词典》里找到端倪.也就是说,虽无案可稽,但毕竟还多少有点“照茬”.实在找不到的,就只好“书对口”了.
