古老的木兰溪,有着许多动人心弦的传说,它如同溪水,源远流长。木兰溪是闽中最大的河流,发源于德化县境内戴云山脉,流经仙游盆地,汇集了360多条支流,水势浩瀚,横贯蒲田,归流东海。在未建木兰陂工程之前,蒲田地区不仅经常受木兰溪上游洪水的威胁,还要遭受海潮的侵害。据史书记载,唐朝元和年间(公元806—820年)乡民们就在蒲田开凿水塘工程,但遇上天旱,池塘便纷纷干涸,遇有山洪或海潮,池塘又被冲毁。当地人们多么盼望改造木兰溪。千百年来,人们忘不了木兰工程的发起
