同位素地质年代学是根据放射性元素衰变速度恒等的定律测定地质体年龄的一门学科。是近代地质学中发展最快的新学科之一。它在地质科学研究领域中已应用到矿物、岩石、矿床、地层、水文地质、石油地质、海洋地质、大地构造,以至地壳、陨石、月球、天体演和宇宙起源等各个方面,目前它已成为解决某些重要地质问题的必要手段之一。如前寒武纪地层,由于缺少古生物化石,以往对其时代的确定比较困难,现在运用这一方法进行研究和划分,问题就比较容易解决。
Isotopic geochronology is based on the law of decay rate of radioactive elements to determine the age of geology a discipline. It is one of the fastest growing new disciplines in modern geology. It has been applied to various fields such as minerals, rocks, deposits, formations, hydrogeology, petroleum geology, marine geology, tectonics, and crust, meteorites, the moon, celestial bodies and the origin of the universe in the field of geological science. One of the necessary tools to solve some important geological problems. For Precambrian strata, because of the lack of paleontological fossils, it was difficult to determine their era in the past. Now it is easier to solve the problem by using this method for research and classification.
