西保尔德(Philipp Franz von Siebold,1796—1866)是著名的医学家、民族学家和博物学家。1796年2月17日,西保尔德出生在德国中南部的维尔茨堡城,1815年进入当时的一流学府维尔茨堡大学学习医学,1820年获医学博士学位。1822年,西保尔德经人介绍受聘于荷兰,被荷兰政府任命为东印度军医外科少佐。1823年2月,西保尔德随船到达巴达维亚(今印尼首都雅加达),转而又被东印度总督派往日本,成为驻日本长崎的荷兰商馆医生。西保尔德从1823年8月到达长崎出岛起到1829年12月因“西保尔德事件”被日本政府“永久驱逐出境”止,在日生活工作了六年多。
Philipp Franz von Siebold (1796-1866) is a renowned medical scientist, ethnologist and naturalist. On February 17, 1796, Siempel was born in Würzburg in south-central Germany. In 1815, he was admitted to Würzburg University as a first-class institution of study then to study medicine and in 1820 he received his MD degree. In 1822, Siebold introduced by the introduction of the Netherlands, was appointed by the Dutch government as a small minority of military operations in East India. In February 1823, Siempold arrived in Batavia (now Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia) on board the ship and was sent to Japan by the Governor of East India to become a Dutch merchant doctor in Nagasaki, Japan. Seibal arrived in Nagasaki from the island in August 1823 and played the role of “permanently deported” by the Japanese government in December 1829 for more than six years in his life in Japan because of the Incipient incident .
