学生在听讲、阅读、考试中遇到的最大困难之一是词汇,但目前词汇教学中存在一些值得重视的问题。词汇教学的比例偏少。以词、句为重点的教学模式改为以篇章结构为主的语篇教学,克服了在“豆腐块”样文章上精雕细琢的现象,培养了学生迅速掌握内容、获取信息的能力,但又有点矫枉过正。重点放在理解内容和语法结构方面后,词汇教学处于无足轻重的地位,其质和量都无法得到保证。批评了结构主义语言学在词汇教学方面脱离语境、孤立地就单词发音和意义进行操练的方式后,又几乎取消了词汇教学。过窄地把词汇局限在本篇的涵义及用法上,
