Improving breeding efficiency depends on an understanding of the genetic nature of the trait. Most studies show that wheat quality traits, including protein and lysine content, are controlled by the microscopic polygenic system. The gene effect is mainly additive; in non-additive is mainly dominant, but also found super-dominant.
