The Yecheng-Shiquanhe seismic profile located in the western part of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau starts in the southern margin of the Tarim Basin, crosses the western Kunlun orogen, and terminates east of the Karakorum Mountains. The authors use the natural seismic body wave to complete the three-dimensional traveltime residual inversion in this area, and outline the deep structure of the northwestern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. A tomographic image of the Tarim Basin subducting southward at an angle of about 40 ° to about 280 km below the western Kunlun orogenic belt was obtained.
