Guangdong Institute of Technology, which is donated by Li Ka Shing Foundation with a total amount of 130 million U.S. dollars, will hold the launching ceremony on December 16. Vice chairman Li Jiange of Central Huijin will serve as the first president of the institute. In the past 35 years, the Li Ka Shing Foundation’s contribution to China’s charity has been extraordinary. Founded in 1980, the foundation owns one third of Li Ka Shing’s assets and has donated HK $ 17 billion so far to supporting education and healthcare public projects, of which 87% are for the Greater China region.
