Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a 45- 56 kDa secreted glycoprotein that induces the differentiation of M 1 myeloid leukemia cell lines and inhibits the proliferation of this cell line. Stewart et al. Reported that large numbers of LIF mRNA were expressed in the uterus pancreatic glands of mice on days 4 to 5 of pregnancy. To further understand the significance of LIF in reproductive physiology, we examined the effects of LIF on protein synthesis and blastocyst development in murine endometrial epithelial cells.
