Livestock trampling is one of the potential downsides to the loss of sediment from grasslands. The study area was a 26hm ~ 2 unmodified pastoral basin near Coshoctou Ohiio, which included a small river that originated in the basin. Fence the river (including the tree area) with a fence so that no cattle can pass through it. For seven consecutive years (1980.4 ~ 1987.3) sediment loss was measured at the bottom of the river basin by measuring the sediment concentration of the river. Since cattle were enclosed outside the river shed, soil erosion decreased by 44% in the next five years (1987.11 ~ 1993.3) from 2.5 t / hm 2 to 1.4 t / hm 2.
