How can modern literature be educated, canonized and institutionalized, and thus a new elite order can be established and a new literary tradition formed, making it an important part of the modern social system? This is the content of this article. From the process of systematization of modern literary knowledge, we can see the characteristics of “non-essentialism” of “system” more clearly, which reveals the historic and constructive nature of the new literary classics and elitism. From the perspective of the “modernity” construction of Chinese literature, this paper tries to sort out the relationship between the classical and institutionalized new literary knowledge and the formation of the modern elite order since the end of the 19th century, and tries to put “modernity” at the “institutional” level Conduct a critical reflection.
