本文作者,据其自述,是现在高中三肄业,实足十六岁的青年。他写这篇文章的动机,也因为受到‘介绍未来的天才化学家’一文(见本刊第二卷六七期)的影响。他找到了这样的题材,虽然没有创出新的制造方法,但是文中所述却是经过亲手实验而成的。并说他获得父兄的帮助,在家中已有一个‘可以做做’的实验室,他希望全国的中学生都能很早确定一种志趣,在未进高等学校前,都已有很好的根基,那末对于未来科学的发展,一定很有利益。这些话,看了谁都会钦佩和同情的,而且他的家中能有一个‘可以做做’实验室,尤足羡慕不止。我国的青年能有几人有他那样好的研究环境呢?这是一个很好的榜样,我们以为全国的父兄们都该效法,因为在目前的情况之下,父兄的奖掖,也是青年科学家成功的主要因素。本刊对于奖掖青年科学家的努力是很微薄的,但向来认为是一种责任,对于这位十六岁青年的作品,当然觉得难能可贵,所以把此文在这里发表。
