The restrictions in Amazon and in Publishers control whether you can read the book, but a bookstore lawsuit may change the situation. For superficial observers, the e-book revolution has produced two fruitful results: the erotic trilogy “Fifty Ash” and the lawsuit. The first is that the author, represented by the Writers Association, sued Google’s book channel for digitizing its work without permission. The Department of Justice then sued five publishers and Apple for a policy called the agency model. Lastly, three independent booksellers brought a class action lawsuit against the six largest book publishers and Amazon companies last week, accusing them of conspiring to monopolize the sale of e-books and to crowd out small retailers out of the market.
