三峡双线五级船闸经过十年建设和一年的试运行检验 ,2 0 0 4年 7月 8日 ,通过了国务院长江三峡二期工程船闸验收委员会的正式验收 ,三峡船闸具备在 135至 139米水位下正式通航的条件。在试运行的一年里 ,通过三峡船闸的货物多达 30 0 0多万吨 ,超过了葛洲坝工程建成以来年通过葛洲坝船闸 180 0万吨的最高水平 ,显示了三峡船闸的吞吐能力和船闸设计、施工水平。由于三峡水库蓄水后 ,航运条件得到改善 ,运输量特别是货运量大增 ,川江航道成为长江最繁忙的水运线 ,首次进入国内最发达的水运航运线行列。三峡船闸的运行压力很大。许多人关心船闸的设计规模是否合理 ,船闸能否适应川江航运未来发展 ,如何确保船闸安全 ,对此 ,本刊编辑部请三峡二期工程船闸验收委员会副主任、验收专家组组长、两院院士潘家铮对上述问题进行了解答。
