1973年5月23日,正值毛泽东《在延安文艺座谈会上的讲话》发表31周年的纪念日,中国卓越的社会主义美术家王式廓突然患脑溢血逝世,他像一位牺牲在保家卫国的战场上的战士一样,紧握着画笔倒在画架面前,时年62岁。转瞬间30年过去,人世苍桑巨变,历史已进入了21世纪。眼下又一个5月23日即将来临。为了纪念王式廓先生逝世30周年,4月2日下午,本刊负责人王仲率记者李人毅、李伟来到北京亚运村安慧里小区,代表《美术》杂志社来看望王式廓夫人吴咸先生。
