叶维廉(1937-)是著名的美籍华裔诗人、翻译家和学者,他在比较诗学的研究上卓有建树,其著名的“文化模子”理论曾在比较文学界产生强烈的反响。叶维廉的文学研究并不着力于建构文学理论体系,而是着重撰写具体问题研究的散论文章,这多与其注重比较文学批评实践和反文化决定论的治学立场有关。尽管如此,纵观叶维廉的文学研究历程,揣摩其文学研究文章,却不难寻出一个迹线甚至体系,即,道家美学思想或直接或间接的贯穿于其文学研究之中,对其文学研究产生了根源性的影响。本文即试图探讨道家美学在叶维廉文学研究中出场与“五四”问题的渊源关系。
Ye Weilian (1937-), a famous American Chinese poet, translator and scholar, made great achievements in the study of comparative poetics. His famous theory of “cultural mold” has had a strong response in comparative literature. Ye Weilian’s literary studies do not focus on the construction of the theoretical system of literature. Instead, they focus on the compilation of scattered articles on specific issues, which are mostly related to the academic position of comparative literary criticism and anti-cultural determinism. However, it is not hard to figure out a trace or even system of Ye Weilian’s literature research history and try to figure out his literary research articles. That is to say, Taoist aesthetics thought directly or indirectly runs through his literary studies, Have a root cause. This article attempts to explore Taoist aesthetics in Ye Weilian literature research appearance and “May Fourth ” the origin of the problem.
