Thalesin proposed that “water is the beginning of all things” and is recognized as an out-and-out materialist simply because we interpret this view according to modern scientific theory and regard water as an original material element. Thus failing to understand it in the real sense of the time. When Thales talked about the water, he did not think of a primitive substance but of the mysterious tremendous power of the original origin. It was such an ephemeral spirituality. The meaning of water as the source of all things means that in all realities there is a divine force at work that, as the legendary ancient river has the original immense power, penetrates into all things the same as the living water.
