Need analysis is not only the important basis for the planning and innovation of teaching,but the starting point to carry out basic teaching activities.This study is based on the needs analysis theory and an investigation was given to the non-English major in grade one in HVTC of China West Normal University(CWNU).The questionnaire is based on Hutchinson and Waters’ needs analysis model and references Shu Dingfang’s questionnaire on English learning needs analysis.The data was analyzed by SPSS19.0.It aims at finding out and analyzing the students’ needs for English teachers, learning environment,textbooks,ect On the basis of data analysis, some suggestions about HVTC English teaching are put forward,followed with the problems needing further study.
