碳酸盐锰矿矿石的特点是,这类矿物类质同象发育广泛,MnFe、Ca互相替代,形成FeCO_3-MnCO_3-CaCO_3系列各种矿物.这些矿物的物理性质、光学性质十分相似,难于鉴别.由于Fe、Ca的混入,使Mn品位降低:Fe、M n难于分离,给选矿和冶炼带来不良的影响.因此,研究FeCO_3-MnCO_3-CaCO_3系列中Fe、Mn、Ca含量变化与矿物的光学、物理性质的关系,是矿物学中的一个重要课题,对岩矿鉴定、选矿和冶金都有现实意义.
