NII Action Plan In September 1993, the U.S. government announced a plan of action called the National Information Infrastructure (NII). NII is an information engineering project proposed to promote U.S. economic growth. Under the direct leadership of Vice-President Gore, the plan is planned by the National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) and the Ministry of Commerce (the U.S. Department of Communications and Information under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Commerce) and is implemented by the Ministry of Commerce. The NII project is scheduled to be basically completed by 2007 with an investment of over 100 billion U.S. dollars. The funds needed mainly come from private-owned companies.
