In a book called The Basin and the Mountains, American writer tells the story of Kenneth Deffeyes, a professor at Princeton University, who sought silver from a special type of silver mine - the tailings heap left over a century ago or the low Grade waste rock piles, which were abandoned a century ago when mining the mine, and from today’s technical level, the available standards have been met. The area to find silver is Nevada. The professor first glanced through the mining Magazine as far back as the 1970’s contained information about the state’s silver mines of the time, and based on these information and aerial photographs, he estimated the volume of the waste rock piles and marked them in a stereoscopic view and did a real survey.
