制造各种珩磨轮常用环氧树脂作粘结剂。由于环氧树脂比重小,预热后呈液状,对磨粒的浮力小,浇铸后易出现磨粒沉淀,甚至在珩轮的上端出现无砂透明的树脂层,而下端磨料密集,至使磨粒在齿向和齿面上分布极不均衡。另一方面,由于环氧树脂粘度大,在添加填料等,操作过程中带入的气泡往往被树脂封住,难于逸出,造成齿面空缺。这对于蜗杆式珩轮来说尤其严重。磨料沉积和齿面空缺是珩磨轮的两大致命弱点,严重影响珩轮的浇铸质量和使用性能。
