冯家山水库位于陕西渭河支流千河的下游,是一座以灌溉为主,兼营渔业的水库。水库水面开阔,养鱼面积为15,000亩,水中浮游生物丰富,养鱼条件较好。1971年在水库主体工程建设时,就开始在大坝下游1,500米处筹建鱼种场,1975年基本竣工,开始养殖鱼种。由于鱼池存在施工隐患,养鱼用水和饲料、肥料来源存在一些问题,直接影响着养殖鱼种的生产能力和经济效益。第一期建成的76亩鱼种池,只在46亩养了鱼种。1975年
