(一)前言距今三十多年前(昭和21年),美国陆军为制成大炮的弹道表而发明了电子计算机。由于当时使用了约19000根真空管,这台电子计算机成为重达30吨、底面积的一边长达30米的庞然大物。其时大多数人发表激烈的意见,指责真空管大量发热,严重烧断磁心,故认为不宜使用。假定平均每十小时停机一次,从发挥其能力约为中继式自动计算机的2500倍、人工的20万倍来看,由于计算机的功效大才被有关人员认识,并发展成为今日的基础。
(I) Preface Since more than 30 years ago (Showa 21), the U.S. Army invented electronic computers for ballistic reporting of cannon. With about 19,000 vacuum tubes in use at the time, the computer became a massive 30-tonne gigantic 30-tonne base.
