祝允明(1460—1526),字希哲,明朝苏州府长洲人。他与唐寅、文征明、徐祯卿并称“吴中四才子”,在当时就是一位家喻户晓的传奇人物。不过,祝氏的一生,并非如人们想象的那般浪漫。撩开其“玩世自放”的面纱,是一张饱经风霜的真面孔。 身世与家境 祝氏的氏族渊源,如今已无从考证。明人以及后人有关祝允明的传记资料中,大多不见记载。唯有陆粲《祝京兆墓志铭》篇首以模棱两可的口吻称,一说其先出古太祝,以官氏为姓;一说其先为黄帝之后,封于祝,以国氏为姓。这种附会传说,自然不足为据。祝氏祖上有比较确切记载者,是七世祖碧山。据说,碧山在明初由松江到苏州任官,后死于任上,有一子留在苏州,遂繁衍为苏州祝氏一族。碧山之后,苏州祝氏家族中,一直没有出现过值得夸耀的显宦大官。直到祝允明祖父颢时,苏州祝氏才有了振兴的机会,进入了“名门”的行列。
