白云鄂博矿区位于内蒙地轴西段北缘,出露的白云鄂博群,主要由区域变质轻微的沉积岩构成,其岩性为变石英砂岩、变杂砂岩、变含砾砂岩、板岩、炭质板岩、灰岩、白云质灰岩、白云岩、泥灰岩及少量火山岩。岩相变化剧烈,地质构造复杂,后期作用强烈。该矿床发现以来,我国地质工作者在该区做了大量研究工作。特别近年来,沉积变质成矿说呼声很高,在这种认识下,要寻找该类型矿床,首要任务必然是含矿层的对比和确定。最先涉及到的当然是宽沟南北白云鄂博群分层对比问题。为此,我们在详细地质研究的基础上,根据宽沟南北实测地层剖面的地层学、岩石学、地球化学等资料,用数学地质方法
The Bayan Obo mining area is located in the northern margin of the western axis of Inner Mongolia.
