China has become a huge market for multinational corporations and a key part of their important global export base and global supply chain. In 2003, China contributed 14% of the revenue to the German public and became the world’s second largest market after Germany. Its revenue of 4.7 billion U.S. dollars also made China the second largest market after the United States. The role of multinationals in China’s economy is also getting heavier and heavier. 1997
