ND2、3型机车用增压器已运用多年，零部件的更换率逐年增高，国产化势在必行。在实现增压器国产化的过程中，分析了原增压器具有结构可靠的特点，但笨重、性能低。国产化增压器由于采取了必要措施，保持了原增压器良好的结构，机车不需做任何改动就可与原增压器整机互换。通过对涡轮和压气机通流元件的精心设计、研究，提高了增压器的性能，使其总效率提高了6％～7％。国产化ZN460型增压器，简化了生产工艺，节约了能源，现已运行64万km，未发生任何问题，用户反映良好。
