在中国当代文学的版图上,南方的写作是一个重要的部分,也是学界关注的一个部分。艾伟的长篇小说《南方》直接以南方命名,力图延续南方写作的文学传统,呈现出一种南方植物般生长的丰富性和混杂性,堪称一部南方的“植物”小说。作品延续了艾伟对存在的勘探和对人性深度的掘进,对存在和死亡的书写充满隐喻性和寓言性。同时,在对女性和河流的反复书写中,艾伟的写作也获得了一种柔韧而坚定的水性。此前,苏童、王安忆、格非等作家以文字架构起一个有关南方的民族志学,艾伟的《南方》是这一民族志学的延续和变异。
In the territory of contemporary Chinese literature, the writing in the South is an important part as well as a part of the academic concern. Ai Wei’s novel “The South” is directly named after the South and strives to continue the literary tradition of Southern writing. It presents a rich and mixed plant-like growth in the South and is called a “plant” novel in the South. The works extend Ai Wei’s exploration of existence and the deepening of humanity, and are full of metaphorical and allegory of the writing of existence and death. At the same time, Ai Wei’s writing has acquired a flexible and firm nature in the repetitive writing of women and rivers. Prior to this, writers such as Su Tong, Wang Anyi and Ge Fei started the ethnographic structure of the South with text structure. Ai Wei’s “South” is a continuation and variation of this ethnography.
