The law of conservation of mass reveals the relationship between quantities of reactants and products in the reaction between substances. It has a wide range of applications in junior high school chemistry calculations, and examples are as follows. Example 1. A certain amount of zinc was added to a solution of 80 g of hydrochloric acid. After sufficient reaction, the weight of the solution was increased to 86.3 g. The mass of zinc that participated in the reaction was determined. Solution: Set the zinc involved in the reaction to be x grams, and generate hydrogen at the same time as y grams.
