张美芳教授的新著《翻译研究的功能途径》是一部运用西方语言学理论解决英汉、汉英翻译问题的优秀著作。作者从两个方面给我们介绍了翻译的功能途径,即:以韩礼德的系统功能语言学以及语用学为基础的翻译语篇分析学派及其研究途径和指以布勒提出的语言功能模式为指导思想的德国功能主义学派及其研究途径。该书所提供的研究方法给中国学者如何借鉴西方理论来解决英汉、汉英翻译中的实际翻译问题。
Professor Zhang Meifang’s new book, “Functional Approaches to Translation Studies,” is an excellent book that uses Western linguistic theories to solve the problems of translation between English and Chinese and Chinese. The author introduces us to the functional ways of translation in two aspects: the translation discourse analysis school based on Halliday’s system functional linguistics and pragmatics, and its research approach and the linguistic mode of function proposed by E. Buhler as German Functionalist School Guiding Ideology and Its Research Approaches. The book provides research methods to Chinese scholars how to learn from Western theory to solve the actual translation problems in English, Chinese and English translation.
