铸铁的合金化处理可以追溯到20世纪三四十年代,合金化处理使得铸铁性能有了质的飞跃,同时也诞生了一些特殊用途的铸铁如耐磨、耐蚀和耐热性能。采用孕育的方式来生产铸铁也是在这个时期内产生的。在20世纪40年代末,孕育后具有球形石墨的的铸铁替代了通常的片状石墨铸铁,我们称这类铸铁为球墨铸铁。
Alloying of cast iron dates back to the 1930s and 1940s. Alloying treatment made a qualitative leap in cast iron performance, and some special cast irons were also developed, such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance and heat resistance. The use of inoculation to produce cast iron is also generated during this period. In the late 1940s, cast iron with spherical graphite after inoculation replaced the usual flaky graphite cast iron, which we call ductile iron.
