In the history of modern Chinese literature, Eileen Chang is a legendary writer. She grew up in a declining aristocratic family, and she had not had the warmth of an entire family since her childhood as a family. Such a life experience affected her personality development, thus affecting her feelings and experience of the entire outside world. Also made her have different views and feelings about “family ”. She is good at portraying ordinary people’s daily life as a trivial object. She believes that “mortals can represent the total amount of the era more than heroes.” [1] Therefore, none of Eileen Chang’s novels has a description of family life. Most of these families are single-parent families, which is closely related to the fact that she lived in a single-parent family from a young age. Therefore, the family in her pen is also unconsciously refracted from her personal experience. Therefore, this article attempts to analyze the works of Zhang Ailing from the perspective of “single-parent family.”
