Niobium, sometimes called 钶. Is a difficult element to make. It is the same subgroup of vanadium and tantalum. It was not used for steel until 1926. It was later used in some stainless steel to prevent intergranular corrosion. Its only important application continues more than a decade. However, during the Second World War, due to the development of the steam turbine jet engine, the steel was required to have high temperature resistance during use. For this purpose, niobium is added to the steel. Because niobium enables these materials to maintain high strength at high temperatures. Since then, the application and potential of niobium has expanded. A new beneficial effect of niobium is to increase the strength of plain carbon steel.
