在日本,除了北海道和九州南部以南的地区外,其余各地都流传着八百比丘尼的传说。其故事本身虽不复杂悬疑,但是能引人发挥无限的联想,具有很强的生命力。这些传说都折射出了日本人独特的信仰观念,比如海洋的异界观,对长生不老的民间看法等等。本文将就“八百比丘尼”特有的生命力及其传承折射出的民族心理及信仰进行分析和探讨。
