扬越(扬越之扬字或作扬,越字或作粤,皆系同音通假,以下统作扬越——笔者)是指分布于古扬州地区的越人,亦即是百越,这是目前史学界比较权威的看法。然而,当我们细检史料,并注目当代的考古学成果时,不难发现这种看法仍有值得进一步商榷的必要。我们认为:扬越与闽越、于越一样,只是百越中的一支。兹略书浅见如下。扬越之事,史书记载不多,不过它不等于扬州之越还是比较清楚的。《史记·楚世家》记载道:当“周夷王之对,王室微,诸侯或不朝,相伐,熊渠甚得江汉间民和,乃兴兵伐庸、扬越,至于鄂。熊渠曰‘我蛮夷也,不与中国之号谥’。乃立其长子康为句亶 Yang Yue (Yang Yang of the word or make Yang, Yue Zi or Yue, Jieyin Tongyitongjian, the following system for Yang Yue - the author) is located in the ancient Yangzhou region more people, that is, Baiyue, which Is the authoritative view of the history of science.
