Since the 90s of the last century, “calligraphic fever” throughout the country reflects the prosperity of calligraphic art in a certain sense. However, it also brings some puzzles and crises to contemporary calligraphy. To get rid of these perplexities and crises, efforts should be focused on three aspects: First, starting from strengthening the self-cultivation of the bookmasters and conscientiously resolving the “three deficiencies”, namely, the lack of awareness of social responsibility, the lack of cultural accomplishment and the traditional humane spirit Second, from the point of view of improving the inherent quality of creation, we should focus on solving the problem of “two incommensurate”, that is, the incommensurate with the economic and social development and the growing cultural needs of the masses: Third, Development rules, and further handle the “two relations”, that is, the relationship between inheritance and innovation, the mainstream book style and the relationship between non-mainstream book style.
