首届中国艺术节上,黄梅戏与越剧同强演唱了各自拿手的几个折子,以资点缀。原因何在,两个剧种近年来都拿不出能够震撼人心的优秀剧目所致。 本来嘛,一个有艺术生命力的剧种,不但能文能武:而且亦古亦今,方能在当今剧坛上占一席之地。这在黄梅戏来说,似乎要比越剧优越些。它的古典剧目之能作为保留并般上银幕的络续不断,而它的现代剧目亦能始终为城乡观众所欢迎。那么当此百剧黯淡的局面下,如何振兴呢?就黄梅戏这一艺术样式来说,应该着重在现代剧目的开拓与发展上。其理由有以下两点:
