After two years of work at home, Marcelo Lippi, 64, finally accepted the coaching invitation from China. After arriving in Guangzhou with a Chinese owner’s private jet, he received gifts such as the Wangjiang villas on the Pearl River, private yachts and annual salary of 10 million euros. The silver-haired elder has a reputation for world football. From the 90s of last century, he led the Juventus team as a coach five times to win the Serie A title; in 2006, he led the Italian team, won the 24-year-long World Cup champion. On May 17, 2012, Lippi, who had never had the experience of oversea coaching, set out for the first time in China and signed a contract with Guangzhou Evergrande Club to start an adventure in far-flung China.
