在建党80周年前夕,我们访问了著名革命老区沙家浜。沙家浜人民在常熟市委和镇党委领导下,继承先烈遗志,弘扬革命传统,进行了改天换地的建设。今日沙家浜发生了天翻地覆的变化。沙家浜已从单一的农业,向以工业为主体、种养并举的综合经济全面发展,并以革命胜地这一独特优势,因地制宜地发展旅游业和第三产业,从而使全镇整体经济得到飞速发展,2000年全镇国民生产总值达3.1亿元,与10年前(1990年)相比,递增了3.77倍。农民人均收入5850元,增长3.88倍;尤为可喜的是农民各项存款余额达2.58亿元,人均1.43万元,吃穿有余,家家安居乐业,充满祥和、幸福。
